How many times have you attended a wedding and the Bride ends up running late or the passenger van hired to shuttle the guests didn’t show up on time. Or what about the time the cake designer got lost and the Bride couldn’t find her number to find out where she was. These are small examples of why Wedding Day Itineraries are important to keeping everyone on track and vendors accountable for their actions. Start your itinerary out with when the first vendor plans to arrive. Usually this would be hair/makeup providers and make sure each vendor being used throughout the day is on the list. Next, make sure on the itinerary the contact person, arrival time and phone number is listed next to each vendor. For the florist, ensure the time is listed for arrival time for the bridal party flowers, flowers at the ceremony site and flowers at the reception site. For the photographer, ensure all times are listed showing when they will arrive for pictures while getting ready, formal shots and receptions arrival. These are tips that will keep everyone sane and happy on the big day!

Say No….

by Sandra Downie

OK I’m just kidding, but I do want you to say No To The Dress, just for a bit. When women get newly engaged, the first thing they want to do is go to the store to buy “the dress”. Unfortunately, buying the dress first before even picking out the venue can be a huge mistake. For example, say you and your fiancé have decided to get married in a romantic garden setting. Would you wear a dress with a full skirt that makes you look like Cinderella or would a nice romantic Chantilly lace gown be more appropriate? What if you were getting married at the beach, you still wouldn’t want to lug a heavy ball gown type of dress around, but rather a dress made out of lighter fabric that is better able to breathe and won’t make you hot and sweaty.  When getting married in the evening or having a black-tie affair, long and full gowns are perfect for these types of weddings. What you wouldn’t want to be seen in is, a tea length gown, as that length takes away from the formality of the day. Save tea length dresses for more casual weddings in gardens, on the beach, or backyard celebration. So remember, you can say Yes To the Dress! But only after you have picked the perfect place to say your I do’s.
