Happy Belated Valentines Day!! Some of you may not know this by my double major includes a degree in film production. I have always had a passion for film, stories and theatre. I hope that maybe someday soon I can get back into that passion creating shorts, it has been so long since I have filmed, it feels like years. But I miss it, it is its own art form and very separate from still photography. The process and thinking have similarities but are extremely different. The artistic choices are much more elaborate, you have to think about the imagine and the movement of the frame, the movement within the frame, and finally the movement from cut to cut. Growing up I always watched the classics, Gentlemen Prefer Blonds and Gone with the Wind were some of my favorite movies. I love Gone with the Wind! I also loved and still do love BBC and Masterpiece Theatre. Some of my favorites are: Pride & Prejudice, The Forsyte Saga, Withering Heights, Daniel Darondo, Wives & Daughters, Persuasion, The Buccaneers, Mansfield Park (Fanny Price is one of my fav. characters!) Sense & Sensibility. Some of our favorite British TV includes, Dr. Who, The IT Crowd, Coupling, and Robin Hood.

I highly recommend North & South! I just watched it on Sunday. It is one of my new favorites. If you have not noticed the Brits make amazing television (BBC and Masterpiece Theatre)! And every now and than I find a new one that I adore more than the last. North & South is my new favorite. If you love to read I would recommend reading the book first than seeing the film. One thing I love about Masterpiece Theatre is how the classics are not rushed into a 2 hour film. Usually they are a mini-series which I feel does justice to the beautiful text that they are portraying, less details are missed.

North & South is about a young strong willed lady Margaret (Daniela Denby-Ashe) who has been uprooted by her family to a dark gray place called Milton, she is much like Miss. Elizabeth Bennett (Jane Austin’s Pride & Prejudices) and a young business man Mr. John Thornton (Richard Armitage) who is very much like Mr. Darcy. Of course they don’t exactly hit off right away (who does?) lol! But through the gray foggy romantic landscape a love blossom’s between them and it is so romantic. You must watch and see for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!

This image is from one of the last scenes! Whatever you do don’t watch it if you find it on you-tube, you must watch the whole film first! The last scene is filmed beautifully, so little words are needed, just a mutual understanding of one another.

Here is a little clip! Enjoy! “Look Back at Me”
