Another beautiful DIY project from Elizabeth Anne Designs!!! This one is so clever, who would think to add lamp shades as a decor and centerpiece element to a outdoor wedding?? Seriously brilliant…as my design professor always said, “It is all about taking the ordinary and making it bizarre or strange by putting it into a new environment” case in point, taking something that is traditionally indoors and in a living room setting and bring it out side and adding it as a table top decoration, amazing!!! So simple yet so unique!

Fabric Covered Lampshade (no sewing machine required!)
Printable Instructions

Materials

Drum Shaped Lampshade between 14” and 16” in diameter (drum shape important for ease of covering

with fabric) This lamp shade meets the criteria and is very affordable! You can also find lamps at a local home store and remove the shades.

Fabric

No Sew Tape

Spray adhesive

Yard Stick

Scissors

Instructions

Measure the height and circumference of your lamp shade

Add two inches to the height (one inch for both the top and bottom sides) and two inches to the diameter

Using your yardstick, cut the fabric to calculated dimensions (for example, our lampshades were 44” in circumference and 10” tall, so we cut our fabric to 46” by 12”)

Create ¾” seams on the top and bottom of the fabric (the “top and bottom” of the lamp shade) and a 1” seam at one end of the long side of the fabric with your “No Sew Tape” (Follow the directions of your “No Sew Tape” – instructions vary by brand)

Test your fabric to be sure it fits your lamp shade – there should be a small overlap at the top and bottom of the shade

Spray wrong side of fabric with spray adhesive

Starting at the seam, apply fabric to the lampshade, carefully rolling it on a few inches at a time, smoothing the fabric until the whole shade is covered

Stand back and admire your work!

I just love all the fun DIY projects on all the wedding blogs and I love sharing my findings to my readers and clients….This awesome DIY project is from Elizabeth Anne Designs…

Escort Card Door Display
Printable Instructions

Materials

Old Door with a screen or window hole on the top half/top ¾ of the door

Sand Paper

1 Qt. Paint in Color of choice (flat finish)

Tack Cloth

4 Metal Shelf Brackets with matching screws

4” paint brush

Chicken Wire aka Poultry Netting : 36in x 25ft (either 1” or 2” hex – we used 2”)

Optional: Brass Darkening Solution

Tools: Heavy duty stapler, screwdriver, wire cutters, paint scraper

Instructions

Remove glass or screen from door

Scrape excess paint and sand door until smooth

Remove excess dust by using tack cloth

If desired, apply brass darkening solution to wire and allow to dry

Place door on two saw horses (boxes will work just fine if you don’t own saw horses)

Begin painting door – to achieve an “old door” look, be sure to use flat finish paint and a wide brush. Don’t worry about covering perfectly or showing brush strokes. The uneven paint and brush strokes will give your door an original look.

Once side 1 of the door dries, flip the door and paint side 2 in the same manner

When side two is dry, cover the door in the hole with chicken wire and staple it to the door

Screw shelf brackets on all four sides of the bottom of the door to allow the door to stand on its own

I love all of Ruffled’s vintage DIY craft projects. This one is super fun and very important!! Ladies & Gents don’t forget to plan your fun get-away car and sign. They make adorable photos and are super fun!!!

{photo & DIY craft instructions from Ruffled}

What you’ll need:

- The Just Married Template. Erin graciously shares the template which can be downloaded here.
- 11×17 printer paper in the color of your choice
- A printer
- A thin piece of cardboard or illustration board
- Spray mount
- Cutting tool (scissors, a box cuter or a paper cutter)
- Ribbon
- Suction Cups
- Glue Gun
- Super Glue
- A hole-punch
- Decorations (Fake flowers, shells, buttons, feathers, lace etc.)
- Black and white ribbon (http://www.timelytresses.com)
- Vintage millinery anemones (http://stores.ebay.com/Vintage-Millinery-Flowers-Shoppe)
- Vintage pom-pom millinery (can be found on eBay or Etsy)

Instructions:

Step 1: Print out your template onto a piece of paper. You can print on any color paper to customize it a bit.

Step 2: Glue your paper to a piece of scrap cardboard with spray mount.

Step 3: Trim out your sign. I used a t-square & box cutter, but you can use scissors or a paper cutter if that works better for you.

Step 4: Using a hole-punch cut two holes in the top of your sign where you can add ribbon. I pulled my ribbon thru, tied it in knots and glued it. Then I just added a suction cup to the top of the ribbon and glued a flower on top of it. Most suction cups come with a hook so you can hook your ribbon on. This will give your sign the appearance of hanging from a ribbon when you attach it to your back window.

Step 5: Add ribbon & vintage millinery flowers using a hot glue gun. This is where you can get creative and throw in colors you are using for your wedding. Instead of flowers you could use shells, lace, feathers, buttons or just about anything else that will stick and won’t be too heavy.

Step 6: Glue your suction cups to the back of your sign. I like to use super glue gel to put them on. Once the super glue has dried I reinforce them by going around the base of the suction cup with the glue gun.

Step 7: Attach your sign to the back of your car window or the back of your car. The suctions cups will hold to either surface.
