I just got back from an amazing Bridal Show at the Milwaukee Athletic Club! I have only but great things to say about it! If you missed out get ready to mark your calenders for next year! This was the first of its kind and let me tell you from someone who was once a Bride this is the kind of show you want to be a part of! The experience is decadent, elegant, & charming! Most Bridal Shows are packed with people, loud, and simply over whelming. As a Bride it is so hard to get into it, the wedding planning experience is overwhelming enough to begin with and than to have vendor after vendor with more information than your brain can handle. The Marie Antoinette Show which was so brilliantly put on by Gold Chic Events , the show was relaxing, sophisticated and most importantly fun! Everyone was enjoying champagne or cosmos, and whiskey and cigars for the grooms! The Fashion show was extremely unique and featured amazing vendors such as Ms. Groove, Delanie Couture, Miss Ruby’s Bridesmaid Boutique & Aala Reed! This week I will have photos from the show! Stay tuned!

Thanks Erin and Delanie for inviting me, it was a pleasure! Congrats Golden Chic Events & Consulting to an amazing Bridal Show! Can I be in the show next year!!!!!??

Yesterday I had a fashion shoot for Delanie Couture at the Villa Filomena.  It was a super long day but was very fun! I just can’t believe how the day went by so fast…where did the time go? The Villa is the perfect spot for a wedding. It is snuggled in the heart of Milwaukee on Marshall St. The sites are historic and very beautiful. Working with Nancy at the Villa was such a pleasure, she was so pleasant. I highly recommend you consider the villa for your Wedding ceremony/receptions site! Your wedding could be outside in the courtyard and the reception to follow inside the mansion! The Villa is extremely accommodating. This is everything that comes with your rental fee...

• dance floor

• staging options

• full catering facilities

• smoke-free environment

• full-service, on-site staff

• event consultation and meeting planning

• house sound system and projection screen

• valet parking service

• same day combined set-up and tear-down time, not exceeding four hours

• horse and carriage service

Another great thing is that you can bring in your own vendors and they offer a list of recommendations on their website.

For the shoot we went for a dramatic theme, it was super fun getting to work with the models and all the fun props that Delanie brought. Delanie does custom Bridal & Bridesmaid Design. She also has a Bridesmaid line at Miss Ruby here in Milwaukee…check out their websites for more information about getting a custom design or scheduling a consultation at Miss Ruby! These ladies are amazing and a joy to work with!

Now to the photos! but first a thank you…

Thank you Delanie for letting me be a part of this shoot- it was so great! Thank you to the models for their hard work! And thank you to the make-up artist Kristin and Michelle from Fringe Salon who did the hair…the girls looked amazing!

If you like what you see (hair/make-up) email me for Kristin & Michell’s contact info!

Some history on the Villa:

The Villa was built for Captain Robert Fitzgerald in 1874. The Villa was designed by Edward Townsend Mix. The style of the Mansion is Italianate with double arched windows, an arched doorway and pillars supporting the porch.

In 1963 it was purchased by the Woman’s Club who later had it renovated and the carriage house was torn down and replaced with what now is the auditorium.

The other night I got to hang out with my new friend Amy! I just love hanging out with her she is so fun, down to earth, funny, and oh so talented!!! She is just an amazingly beautiful person inside and out and I feel so blessed to have the privelage to hang out with her! So we did a little fun session. I like to do personal shots every now and than because it allows me to experiment and try out new things that I normally don’t get to do as much when shooting for a cleint. It is a great way to refine my craft, learn new tricks and a better understanding of the image!

Before I get to the images! Amy is an extremely talented lady…she is a make-up and hair artist! So if you need to hire someone to do your hair or make-up you should contact Amy! (hopefully soon she gets a website rolling)!

Email me if you would like her contact info!! (brittany@hanle-productions.com)

So if anyone has been following my blog I have been doing a series of posts on “Wedding Planning” the first post was Finding the Perfect Dress, than came Accessories….Now I just found this amazing wedding story on another favorite blog of mine called Southern Weddings. They are an amazing wedding Magazine company and I just love the blog they have. They always have amazing wedding ideas and amazing featured “Weddings” from real weddings.

This wedding was featured on their blog here. The beautiful images are by Hudson Photography. Love them!

Ok now to the “Wedding Details Part” why do I love this wedding spread?

First off it is unique. The venue is very has an old warehouse feel. I love how they transformed the space into their own. The details of this wedding seem very simple and that is why I love it. They used simple white table cloths. The center pieces are also very simple looking but they pop out with some amazing lighting. Keep in mind a little can go a long way, specially when you have some amazing lighting going on.

Other details: The Asian Paper Lanterns are easy to do and easy to find and reasonable in price. You can find these at party stores or stores like World Market. I am guessing they are even cheaper when purchased in bulk online!

Some online options:

Paper Lantern Store

Shoji Decor

Luna

The sheer fabric draped ties everything together! Fabric is getting to be very expensive but not if you buy in bulk or on the sale rack at Vogue fabrics (a little secret treasure of mine) Vogue fabrics is in Chicago and a great place to buy fabric supplies for a wedding. They have a whole room just for sale fabrics. Last time I was in town I got 8 yards at $1.64 a yard on clearance!

Unique lighting situations to transform the reception: Ikea! Take a trip to Ikea and check out some unique and affordable lighting. They have everything from modern easy to install lights, outdoor lanterns or other outdoor hanging lights. Target has some really unique string lights right now.  Think practically as well…what is going to 1. look great at your wedding/fit the theme and 2. look amazing after your wedding in your backyard or home!

Also- keep your eye out for estate sales for some beautiful chandeliers!

Well folks this is all for today have a happy Thursday!

This past Saturday I got to hang out with Natalie and Mark which was super fun. We sort of took a tourist ride around good old Milwaukee. I never realized that Milwaukee has such hidden treasures before. The public library was the first stop. I have been meaning to go their for some time. They offer Sat. tours of the library at 1:30. It never fails I either forget about it when Saturday rolls around or I am well photographing something ;-) like a beautiful wedding or a beautiful engagement session.

Natalie and Mark have been watching this tv serious on Old Milwaukee and the founding Fathers so it was extremely interesting hanging with them and visiting all these amazing locations. It was so great hanging out with them and I am so excited for the wedding this coming April! I will be so stoked as well to post some photos of Natalie in her amazing dress after the wedding. We shot her Bridal session a few weeks back and she just looks amazing!

A few things on Engagement Sessions before I get to the images! Engagement sessions are really great for a bunch of reasons…

1. It allows you time to get to know your photographer better. Just hanging out with them for a few hours will help you feel more comfortable when the wedding day comes. Your photographer becomes one of your best friends at your wedding, they witness your most intimate moments and they are there to serve you. So you want to get the best amount of shots and if you don’t feel comfortable around your photographer, your images may be some what awkward. The engagement session helps to weed out those first photo gitters (specially if you don’t really like or are not fully comfortable getting your pictures taken).

2. The Engagement Session helps your photographer to get to know you! The Engagement session really helps me to get a better idea of what type of couple you are and how I can best change my style of shooting to best fit your needs.

3. The Engagement Session is just plane fun! Not only will you cherish the images captured but you will have loads of fun.

So now you know what all the fuss is about be sure and have an Engagement Session with your photographer and if you book me lets grab coffee or lunch before or after! I love hanging out with my clients.

Milwaukee’s Central Library was first opened in 1898. The building was shared with the Milwaukee Public Museum until they moved to their own building in the 1960′s (currently on Wells & 6th St.)

A national competition was held to pick a design for a building to house both the public library and the public museum.  Seventy-four entries were received, including an entry from Frank Lloyd Wright. The winning design was submitted by Ferry & Clas of Milwaukee.  The winning design was for a building one block long and designed in a combination of French and Italian renaissance styles known as  Neo-renaissance.  The building was designed in a U-shape to provide a common entrance for the library and museum but to keep the facilities separate.Construction costs for the monumental building, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, were $780,000.

This beautiful Church located on the south side of Milwaukee is just amazing! We did not get to go inside the church that day but after checking out photos online of the interior I am so going back….it looks breathtaking…

The Building was originally in Chicago until they took it down one piece at a time and brought it to Milwaukee to put back together! Crazy!

After you find your dress you will than want to make your day extra special with all the accessories you add!

Think about what style your dress is, as well as the theme of your wedding…is it glam, country, Victorian, vintage-modern, modern, classic, traditional, lade back and artsy fartsy..all these things will help you pick the right accessories and help pull your theme together…

Here are some fun things to consider….

Jewelry…

What will flatter your dress and what is totally you…if your not about fancy diamonds, or pearls, and you want something unique or just more affordable, check out Etsy! This is a great place to shop for unique accessories including jewelry. These pieces below are from a shop on Etsy called Teleecouture….

Bling, Bling your hair with some pretty bling bling……

2009-02-02_141239

A late trend I have noticed is the messy necklace look…this would look amazing with those black lace high heels below…this is a Tom Binns Dumont crystal necklace

2009-02-02_141518

I love the simplicity of this Alex Monroe Calabria Crest…gold is a great accent and looks amazing with a white dress…don’t be afraid to mix gold and silver or white gold (for example if you are doing white gold or platinum rings) gold & silver are the new black & white…

Hair Pieces and Veils….

This hair piece below is very vintage, very Hollywood glam! It would look amazing with the 1920-40′s style wedding gown in the post below…this piece can also have a birdcage veil added to it pretty easily. Just buy some french netting and measure and cut…pin back the other side with a bobby pin or two…

2009-01-31_135407

feathered hair pin

2009-01-31_135554

Add some color to your dress with a beautiful hair piece…these are custom made by a boutique on Etsy called LoBoheme
