we are off to Minnesota for the weekend! We have a senior photo session and my good friend Tara is getting hitched on Sunday!!! But before I go I have to post these photos from Rena and Brad’s Wedding from this past weekend! I had the privelage to assist and second shoot with Tony Skarlatos! Which was wonderful and a great learning experience for me. Being able to assist another artist and watch how they work as well as being able to shoot-all at the same time is very eye opening, it alows you to see things from a much different perspective.

The wedding was beautiful. The Ceremony was at the Villa Terrace here in Milwaukee. The Villa is an Italian Renaissance-style villa, designed and built by architect David Adler in 192. Currently the Villa is used as an art musuem and event rental. The building and the gardens that surround it are just fabulous! (we all know how much i love to say fabulous) but it really is!!

The Bride & Groom, absolutely perfect! And very photogenic. (they have both modeled before- and the bride actually teaches modeling! how fun!)

It was a beautiful ceremony and perfect weather for shooting conditions. The Reception was at Alverno College.

Hope you enjoy these-have a great weekend!

I got some action shots of Tony as well!!

her dress was just breathtaking, it was ivory with a champange sash around the waist and a sparkling vintage inspired broach on it! the bottom was all laced with beading! so classic and vintage- love it!!!

Rena had feather pumps! to go with her amazing feather and rose bouquet that her mother-in-law made!! just love it! Brides-to-be the feathers are in!! Talk to your florist about having feathers put into your arrangements!! It will add a unique splash of color and texture!!

Tony had her pose next to the window in the bathroom after she was all ready! What a beautiful Bride, below he posed her just perfectly for a dramatically fashion shot!

Action Shot of Tony getting an up close shot of Rena’s necklace.

this little girl Sophia was just a doll!

inside the quart yard of the Villa…

the kiss….

See the feathers!!! So wonderful, green, brown and gold! Perfect colors for fall……The Gold and Brown keep the theme traditional while the green adds in a bit of a modern twist!

The Bride and Her Daddy!

the whole gang, Tony is above taking the picture from the stairs, I am well on the side, holding lenses…

and Action!

i have been thinking hmmm….maybe i should reveal more about me on my blogger…so you have a better idea of who this crazy girl is…

to start: i am going to be lame and start off with my fav. movies and music as of this summer!!

What do I watch…

I love the movie “Sweetland”! IF you have not seen this and you love soft romantic stories about timeless love than this is the movie for you! I think why I love it most is because it reminds me of my grandparents, they were farmers in MN as well, and so was my Grandpa’s parents before him. I wonder if my Great Grandparents were like this when they where young!

What else do I watch….”Once”

I love this film!! IF you don’t mind the British/Irish language (well they like to swear a lot- it is a part of how they talk) This is a beautiful story about two very talented musicians that randomly bump into each other—-I shall say no more! But the vocals are amazing….I loved it so much that Anthony bought me the soundtrack right after we watched the movie!!

I wish I had cable- cus I love watching “CNN”. I also love watching “Everyday Italian” and “Find Your Style”!

Music!

I love….

Pricilla Ahn

Marie Digby

and…

Jason Mraz, Goldfrapp, Ingrid Michaelson, Imogen Heap,

Brandi Carlile, Rosie Thomas, Holly Brook,Regina Spector

Beth Waters, Iron & Wine

Once Wed!!! I have posted about Once Wed before, but I just can’t stop going back and looking at it, beautiful images of real weddings, and beautiful and creative ideas! It is amazing to see so much creativity out there I just love it! Check out these great ideas from some postings from Once Wed.

Check out this- the bridesmaid is wearing what looks like a simple sun dress, you can find something like this just about anywhere- or make your own, or have grandma make them….but really with the cost of fabric it is almost cheaper to just buy them at a department store…keep your eyes peeled for unique, stylish, and simple patterns, or just a solid!

The suit! Why not try something from a vintage shop…than you can always wear it later too!

Your wedding does not have to be elaborate or expensive…it is all about resources and creativity!! think outside the box as my 8th grade English teacher used to always say!! If you want something really traditional than that is just great!! Think traditional: estate sale! If your a little more artsy or just love bold color and unique ideas that are totally you than go for it…go to thrift stores, vintage shops, and make things, use your friends and family as resources for information, the internet is a great resource!! Take your time, your engagement should not be stressful, don’t get consumed by the little stuff, just enjoy each other (the two of you should use this special time to prepare for your marriage, the rest of your life together, not just the wedding) and have fun with family and friends as you plan and create your special day!

Sneakers! woo hoo! and blue striped pants!! ADORABLE!

If you splurge on anything for your wedding day, let it me your photography!! I don’t know how many people I have talked to that said they wish they would of spent the money on the photos!! Believe me the day goes so fast, your adrenaline is rushing and well frankly you just don’t remember all that happened when the night is over! Your brain has been crammed full of information that is 7 days worth!! The photos are what you have for a lifetime to bring back those memories! Splurge on the photographer of your dreams, who’s work do you just love…there are so many great photographers around…take your time and pick the one right for you!

hehe this makes me giggle!

adorable printed programs, stamped or screen printing, from an image it looks like of the two of them! Check out your local art resources, some screen printing studios teach classes or have workshops! again resources!! be creative….and delegate to someone you can trust, and if you can afford a wedding planner, or at least a “day coordinator” to make sure everything runs smoothly (great!) and than you two love birds can just relax, and take in the day and all its emotion! (if you can’t afford this- ask a friend that has been to many weddings before, and has been involved with wedding planning! you want someone who can be organized, knows what is going on and on top of things)

Happy Wedding Planning!
